Included in the backer package was the following items:
- 1 x Camoramo 360 Degree Camera (64gb of internal storage)
- 1 x Camorama Soft Carry Case
- 1 x Camorama Mini Tripod
- 1 x Selfie Stick
One item in the backer package, the Waterproof Case, was not included but expected to ship shortly after the new year due to a slight redesign late in the product manufacturing phase. While I look forward to having the waterproof case I am glad that they decided to ship the other items now and not wait until all the items were ready to ship.
I was impressed with the packaging of the shipment and the packaging for the the individual items was very nice. Here are a few of my first impression from the unboxing, the camera is in the process of charging so I can do some more in depth testing.
The camera it self is well built and looks great. The lens cover is magnetic and sticks very nicely to the top to cover the lens as well as the bottom of the camera making easy to store while the camera is in use. The cover for the charging port seal up nice and tight and the three buttons on the top for the power on/off, wifi, and camera button have led indicators that make it very easy to quickly identify the status of the buttons. I did do a quick test of the magnetic back of the camera on my freezer and the weight of the camera caused the camera to slide down the freezer about an inch or two, so the magnet might leave a little something to be desired.
The tripod that was included is very well designed and also looks very good. The legs of the tripod have a nice wide base that should keep the camera very steady. The mechanism that they used to lock the position of the head of the tripod uses a lever mechanism as opposed to a screw type. I really like the lever style and it really locks the tripod head in place when set. I also like the tripod has a built in level to make leveling a snap.
The camera carrying case is small and compact with a d-ring clip that makes it very easy to click to any bag that you might be carrying. Having a zipper to secure the case closed is nice and guarantees that when closed there is no chance of the camera falling out. Overall the quality of the case is good.
While I am not a big fan of selfie sticks it looks like the team did a great job with the design again. The selfie stick was an added bonus after the project backing reached a funding goal. The telescoping sections feature a twist lock design. The head where the camera mounts allows for the camera to be swiveled from a straight up position to just over 90 degree. That is pretty much the only adjustment. The selfie stick also has a cap that screws on to the head plate screw with a cord that can be used to secure the selfie stick to a bag - would have liked to see a d-ring or a clasp of some sort to make securing it to a bag even easier though.
So my initial impression of what I received today is very good, while communication from the project owner during the time between when the project was funded to when the items were received did leave something to be desired. If there had been updates a little bit more frequently and responses to questions on the project page in a more timely manner this would have been an awesome project. I know at times it felt like this project may fail to deliver as promised, but in the end they delivered.
